CONTIFIBRE launches LycraŽ fusion and ContifilŽ; innovative yarns against the ladder
Laddering : one of the most frustrating and annoying events for those who wear tights or stockings. What can be done to produce hosiery that prevents this?
With this idea in mind Contifibre launched a development project more than 2 years ago to develop and commercialise a series of innovative yarns for the production of fine denier anti-ladder hosiery.
LycraŽ Fusion covered yarns and ContifilŽ polyamide are the resulting technologies ; identical in their aim but completely different in their appearance in order to meet the various demands of the hosiery consumers.
LycraŽ Fusion covered yarns were developed in close collaboration with InvistaŽ and recently launched at the LYCRAŽ Legwear Forum in Verona, Italy. These covered yarns have a matt cosmetic appearance with an exceptional fit and comfort. Under the correct hosiery finishing conditions the special 2-component structure of this unique elastane reacts to bond each stitch so ensuring and exceptional resistance to laddering.
ContifilŽ, was a direct development of Contifibre in their Contifahion development centre and is designed for those customers looking for an elegant sheen and high level of transparency. Here too a bicomponent yarn structure locks in the stitches during the hosiery finishing process to give a ladder resistant bright garment.
Thanks to these developments women no-longer need to live in fear of finding a place to change their tights or resort to the classic “fix-it” with a bottle of nail polish.
